Language courses Terms and Conditions

Terms and Conditions for language courses organised by the Maritime English Centre at the Maritime University of Szczecin

  1. These Terms and Conditions set out the rules governing the organisation of and participation in language courses organised by the Maritime English Centre – an organisational unit of the Maritime University of Szczecin, with its registered office at Wały Chrobrego 1–2, 70-500 Szczecin, hereinafter referred to as the “Organiser”.
  2. A Participant in a language course is a person who has registered for and paid for the language course, or a person for whom the language course has been purchased.
  3. Registration for the language course is completed by submitting the registration form available on the Organiser's website.
  4. Reservation of a place is subject to payment of the language course fee by the deadline specified by the Organiser.
  5. The Organiser may refuse to accept an application if there are no places available.
  6. Submission of the application form and payment of the language course fee constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
  7. Courses are conducted according to the timetable provided to Participants.
  8. The Organiser reserves the right to change the date of classes, the course instructor or the venue of the course for valid organisational reasons; Participants will be informed of this immediately. Cancelled classes will be held on an alternative date set by the Organiser.
  9. If the minimum number of Participants is not reached, the Organiser may cancel the course. In such a case, the Participant is entitled to a full refund of the fee paid.
  10. To withdraw from a language course, the Participant must submit a written statement or an email.
  11. If the Participant withdraws from the course no later than 7 days before the planned course start date, the Organiser shall refund 60% of the course fee paid. The remaining amount shall constitute compensation for the organisational costs incurred by the Organiser.
  12. If the Participant withdraws from the course less than 7 days before the scheduled course start date, the course fee paid is non-refundable.
  13. A Participant’s absence from classes, withdrawal during the course, or failure to attend all classes does not constitute grounds for a full or partial refund of the fee.
  14. Any refund, where applicable, will be paid into the bank account specified by the Participant.
  15. The Organiser undertakes to conduct the courses with due care and to ensure suitable learning conditions.
  16. Participants undertake to observe the rules of social conduct, to attend classes punctually and to respect the Organiser’s property.
  17. The Organiser may exclude a Participant from the language course in the event of a gross or persistent breach of the rules of social conduct or disruption to the course. In such cases, the language course fee is non-refundable.
  18. Participants’ personal data is processed by the Organiser in accordance with the applicable data protection legislation. Detailed information regarding the processing of personal data is set out in the privacy notice provided alongside the registration form on the Organiser’s website.
  19. In matters not covered by these Terms and Conditions, the provisions of generally applicable law shall apply, in particular the Civil Code.
